The Best Sleep Gifts for Parents of Babies & Small Children this Holiday Season
I can’t believe it is December 1st tomorrow! Christmas feels like it is literally around the corner!
In my opinion, there’s almost nothing better than a good night’s rest, so if you still need gift ideas for a friend or loved one (or maybe for yourself ;-)), I’ve got you covered!
If you know a parent of small children, or even an expecting parent, I’ve compiled a list of my favorite sleep products that make great gifts. From swaddles to sound machines, to toddler clocks and quiet time activities, there is something below for everyone age from birth to kindergarten!
Check it out!
Swaddles & Sleep Sacks
From Swaddles in the newborn stage to Sleep Sacks that grow with your child, here are my favorite ways to keep your little ones both safe and warm when they sleep.
I’ve always loved Aden & Anais’s Muslin swaddle blankets. Their cotton muslin swaddles are breathable and versatile, we used them as swaddles with both our babies, but they also double as great burp cloths throughout the day, too!
Another swaddle I love is the Love to Dream Swaddle Up. It allows babies to have their hands up, so is a wonderful option while transitioning away from the traditional swaddle. It’s easy to use (no wrapping!) and the waist is snug, while allowing baby’s legs to be free and the arms up. My favorite is the transitional bag, as you can zip the arms off to use it as a regular sleep sack, when your baby is ready to ditch the swaddle!
Another great transitional Swaddle is the Zipadee Zip! They are safe for baby to roll around in while still allowing them to stay warm and cozy throughout the night!
When your baby is ready to move into a regular sleep sack, Kyte Baby is one of the best out there. The material is so buttery soft and cozy!
This is the splurge gift on the list! The merino wool these sleep sacks are made out of helps regulate baby’s temperature, by keeping them warm when it’s cold out and cool when it’s hot. One of my favorite things about this product, though, is it’s lifespan. They are more expensive than most sleep sacks, but they have a universal fit that fits your child from 2 months until 2 years! They are currently offering a Cyber Monday Sale of $20 off $99 or $50 off $200!
Sound Machines & Ok-To-Wake-Clocks
I think this product may always be my favorite! I love that it is an all-in-one combination of sound machine, nightlight, and ok-to-wake clock. It can be used from birth and for those middle of the night feeds all the way through the kindergarten years. You can control the Hatch with your phone or set it to be pre-programmed to work with your nightly routine.
This is a rare product on one of my lists that I haven’t actually tried, but feel confident recommending. It is similar to the Hatch, in that it acts as both a nightlight and sound machine (and it uses pink noise, which I actually prefer to white, if I’m being picky!). It also has a cool mist humidifier built in, along with an aromatherapy diffuser. If it had an option to change the red nightlight to green in the morning, it would be a home run I think!
This is another great option for a combination of an all-in-one product. It acts as a white noise machine, nightlight overnight, and ok-to-wake clock for the morning! It even has a nap timer, which is helpful as you switch from nap time to quiet time as your child gets older.
Blackout Solutions
The Slumber Pod is such a great gift for traveling families! Instead of dealing with covering windows to blackout your space, just pop this travel sleep cave over a pack n’ play or travel cot. It’s even a great option for daily use if you are in a roomsharing situation with your little one!
Use code RESTGROWTHRIVE20 to receive $20 off at checkout!
The blackout EZ window liners are a great choice for a blackout solution at home. They are both affordable and easy to install. We’ll be using them ourselves soon for baby number 3! They are having a Cyber Monday Sale, too: Use code CM20 to get 20% off.
Quiet Time Activities
As your child gets older and closer to dropping their nap, it’s great to have some toys stored away that are meant just for their quiet time. Books and puzzles are great quiet time activities to start, but below you’ll find some of my favorite toys that facilitate independent play without requiring lots of supervision, perfect quiet time activities!
Building & Pretend Play
Magnetic Tiles - The options to build and create are endless. Add in some toy figurines or hot wheels, and boom, independent play at it’s finest! Picasso brand is our family’s personal favorite.
Lincoln Logs - I love that most of the classic ‘old-fashioned’ toys are some of the best for open-ended play. Between Lincoln Logs and good ole wooden blocks, quiet time can be a wonderful time of creation for your child!
Creating & Art
Melissa & Doug Reusable Sticker Pad - Reusable Stickers are the best!
Paint By Stickers - Mess free painting - win win!
Water Coloring Mat - This is going to be a gift under the tree for our three-year old this year. Mess free coloring!
LCD Writing Tablet - This is a great option for older toddlers that are getting into drawing and such. Another one of the gifts under our tree for our 5-year old this season.
Books & Audio
Look & Find Books - These are the awesome and they come in so many different choices!
Lunii Storyteller - Audio books are such a great option for quiet time. We usually switch between audio books and CD’s in our home. The Lunii Storyteller is an awesome screen free option for audio books!
